I swear I tried my hardest to guess the rhythm but as soon as I thought I got it, it was something else.
Anyway, such a beautiful song, really gives me a somber nice autumn feel. You nailed the anime feeling for sure!
Did you play the Instruments live and recorded them?
Ha ha No I didn't. This was all done in LMMS, it's a digital audio workstation. But I did give much more attention to the piece than I might have otherwise done, explaining why you might have thought it was played live.
And yeah you wouldn't be able to guess the rhythm of this. I don't even remember how many time signature changes are in this. So it's no surprise this threw you off.
Anyway, thank ye for such kind words! I'm glad this was able to have the anime and autumn feel and it stuck with you!

I really like the main melody but after 40s, the bass seems to take over the whole song, dampening the main melody. At 1:10 until the drop at 1:45ish, it sounds super clean again and a lot nicer, having the piano (i think) in the foreground and the rolling bass as a nice addition. Try to create space for each instrument so nothing fights for space.
The idea is certainly there and i really like it, just work a bit more on the mixing and surely the next songs will be amazing!
